Terms of Service
Effective date: September 5, 2026
These Terms of Service apply to appliance diagnostic, repair, installation, maintenance and related services provided by Appliance Repair Pro in British Columbia. These Terms are intended to supplement the specific estimate, work order, invoice or other service agreement provided for a job. If applicable law gives a consumer rights that cannot legally be waived or limited, those rights apply despite anything in these Terms.
1. Service Call and Diagnostic Fee
A standard service call and diagnostic/inspection fee is $120 plus applicable taxes, unless a different amount is disclosed and agreed to before the appointment. The fee covers the technician’s visit and reasonable diagnostic or inspection work for the appliance identified in the booking or work order. It is payable for the completed service call even if the customer decides not to proceed with a recommended repair.
If the customer approves and proceeds with the quoted repair for the diagnosed appliance, the $120 service call fee may be credited toward the approved repair labour when this is stated in the estimate or work order. Additional appliances, separate problems, extensive disassembly, specialized testing or return visits may require additional charges, which will be disclosed before additional chargeable work is performed.
2. Estimates and Authorization
Repair work beyond the agreed diagnostic or inspection service will not be intentionally performed without customer authorization. An estimate may include labour, parts, shipping or sourcing charges, applicable taxes and any other disclosed charges. Authorization may be provided in writing, electronically, through a service-management platform, by text message or email, or by another method that reasonably records the customer’s approval.
If additional defects or work are discovered after a repair begins and they materially change the approved price or scope, the customer will be informed and additional chargeable work will require further authorization.
3. Diagnostic Limitations
Appliance diagnosis is based on the condition, symptoms, error codes, measurements and information reasonably available at the time of inspection. Some faults are intermittent, concealed, dependent on operating conditions, or caused by more than one component. A diagnosis or recommended repair is therefore not a representation that no other fault exists or can subsequently occur.
Where reasonable testing indicates that a component or repair is required, the recommendation is based on the information available at that time. If a separate or additional fault becomes apparent after the initial repair, additional diagnosis, parts or labour may be required and will be quoted as appropriate.
4. Parts and Special Orders
Parts availability and delivery dates are subject to manufacturers, distributors and shipping carriers and cannot always be guaranteed. Deposits or advance payment may be required for special-order, non-returnable or high-cost parts. Any deposit requirement and applicable cancellation or return restrictions will be disclosed before the order is placed.
Installed electrical/electronic components, special-order parts and other items may be non-returnable where permitted by law and by the applicable supplier’s return policy. Nothing in this section limits statutory cancellation or refund rights that apply to a consumer.
5. Customer-Supplied Parts
If Appliance Repair Pro agrees to install a customer-supplied part, the customer is responsible for the part’s identity, compatibility, condition and warranty unless Appliance Repair Pro expressly agrees otherwise in writing. Labour charges remain payable for authorized work performed. Appliance Repair Pro does not provide a warranty on a customer-supplied part itself and is not responsible for a defect inherent in that part, subject to applicable law.
6. Access and Appliance Condition
The customer must provide safe and reasonable access to the appliance, electrical panel, water shut-off, gas shut-off where applicable, and other areas reasonably required for the authorized service. The customer should remove personal belongings and obstructions around the work area.
If an appliance cannot reasonably be accessed or moved without an unusual risk of damage or injury, additional assistance or preparation may be required before work can continue. Any additional charge will be disclosed before chargeable additional work is performed.
7. Existing Damage and Unrelated Conditions
Appliance Repair Pro is not responsible for pre-existing damage, deterioration, corrosion, brittle plastics, worn fittings, damaged flooring or cabinetry, previous improper repairs, concealed leaks, pest damage, or other conditions not caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care. When practical, significant visible pre-existing conditions may be documented before work begins.
This provision does not exclude responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including responsibility for damage directly caused by our negligence where applicable.
8. Payment
Unless otherwise stated in writing, the service call/diagnostic fee is due at the completion of the diagnostic visit and the balance for an approved repair is due immediately upon completion of the authorized work. Applicable taxes are additional unless expressly included in the quoted total.
If an invoice remains unpaid, Appliance Repair Pro may pursue lawful collection remedies and recover amounts that are legally recoverable. We will not impose an undisclosed collection, interest or late-payment charge.
9. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Customers should provide as much notice as reasonably possible when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Any cancellation, missed-appointment or special-order charge applies only if it was disclosed to and agreed to by the customer before it became applicable. Statutory cancellation rights under British Columbia law are not limited by this section.
10. Repair Warranty
Any specific labour or parts warranty offered for a repair will be stated on the estimate, work order or invoice. A repair warranty applies only to the specific authorized repair and does not cover unrelated failures, new faults, misuse, external causes, customer-supplied parts, or work subsequently altered by another person, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Manufacturer or distributor warranties on replacement parts are subject to their applicable terms. No provision of these Terms reduces any warranty or other consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
11. No Guarantee of Future Appliance Life
Repairing a diagnosed fault does not guarantee the future condition or remaining service life of the appliance or of components outside the approved repair. Older appliances may develop additional failures independently of the completed repair.
12. Safety
Appliance Repair Pro may decline or stop work where conditions are unsafe, where required access is unavailable, or where performing the requested work would violate applicable safety requirements. If an appliance presents an apparent safety hazard, the technician may recommend that it remain disconnected or unused until appropriate repairs are completed.
13. Consumer Contracts and Statutory Rights
Some service arrangements may constitute a direct sales contract, distance sales contract, future performance contract or another regulated consumer contract under British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act. Where the Act applies, the customer has the disclosure, cancellation, refund and other rights provided by law. These Terms do not waive, restrict or replace those statutory rights.
For a particular job, the estimate, work order or other contract documentation may contain information and notices required by law, including the description of services, itemized price, other costs, payment terms, total price, applicable policies and any required notice of cancellation rights.
14. Limitation of Terms
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, warranties or consumer protections to the extent that doing so is prohibited by applicable law. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from using a court, tribunal or other dispute-resolution process available under applicable law.
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms or a particular service agreement may be directed to Appliance Repair Pro through the contact information provided on our website, estimate, work order or invoice.
These website Terms are general service terms. The specific estimate, work order or invoice for each job records the particular appliance, authorized scope of work and job-specific pricing.
